Description:
„21 Век“ is a Russian cigarette, symbolically named „21st Century“. The design is modernist, with a blue and silver color scheme, reflecting a futuristic image. The upper part is clearly marked with „биофильтр“ (biofilter), which was a marketing highlight at the time – supposedly improved smoke filtration. The back side shows a cut of a cigarette with a description of the new generation filter. Visually, it is a typical product intended for the middle-class domestic market, distinguished by its name and attempt to be innovative.
Value assessment:
-
Collectible value: Average. This is a local and quite rare brand, not very well known outside of Russia. It is interesting to collectors because of its experimental design and the marketing concept of a "biofilter", which was not very common at the time.
-
Condition assessment: Very good - unpacked, with excise stamp, good surface gloss visible.
-
Historical data and popularity: Manufactured at the Donskoy Tabak factory, one of the most well-known manufacturers in southern Russia, 21 Vek was an attempt to create a "new era" cigarette with a technological focus (biofilter), but distribution was limited and the brand did not gain wider market acceptance.
