Description:
White background packet with horizontal greenish-yellow lines at the bottom. Red band at the top, and the name "Belmont" in English and Arabic in the center. Additional marking "Low Tar" indicates a lighter version. Packet unused, sealed with original cellophane, red Egyptian monopoly excise sticker attached at the top. Corners minimally creased from storage.
Value assessment
Collectible value: Medium-High is a rarer variation of Belmont from the Egyptian market, aimed at the „light cigarette“ marketing segment. Such packs are attractive to collectors because they mark market changes at the end of the 20th century.
Condition assessment: Very good (sealed, minimal corner dents, clear cellophane).
Historical data and popularity:
The Egyptian tobacco monopoly released various versions of Belmont to offer alternatives to different consumer segments. The emphasis on "Low Tar" reflects a period when lighter cigarettes were popular internationally. This is a locally produced pack, and is therefore rarely found outside Egypt today.
