„"Bijuli"“ – is one of the local Nepalese cigarette brands, produced Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd., located in Simra, Bara region. The company was a joint venture between British American Tobacco (BAT) and Nepalese investors, and became dominant in the local market from the 1980s.
Word “Bijuli” in Sanskrit (बिजुली) means „"lightning"“, which perfectly reflects the packaging design – a bright red background with yellow lightning line in the middle. This minimalist, energetic motif symbolized strength and local character.
On the top is a red excise sticker with the price in Nepalese rupees, confirming local production. On the side is an inscription “Made in Nepal” and a health warning in both English and Nepali.
This package is intact, with the original cellophane, although there are noticeable oxidation stains and signs of age, typical of specimens stored in Asian climates.
