Description:
Bulgarian production Stewardess King Size – is an exceptional example of socialist-era design, reflecting the influence of travel, aviation, and Western modernism on the tobacco aesthetics of the time.
The package features a delicate cream background, covered at the bottom by a dark gray band with a thin gold line.
In the central part - the name Stewardess 20, written in an elegant, modern font reminiscent of the Jet Age of the 1960s and 1970s.
On the reverse side, there is a stylized gold logo with a bird/wing motif, clearly linking the product to aviation.
Minimalist design, soft colors, and a Western image testify to Bulgartabac's attempt to export to markets seeking prestige and modernity.
Value assessment:
– Collectible value: High among Eastern European cigarette collectors. Bulgarian export packs with names such as Stewardess, Cosmos, Pilot, Balkans whether Opal – highly sought after for their unique aesthetics and limited production.
– Condition assessment: Very good - unopened, original film intact, only minimal signs of storage (wear on corners, slight darkening of color).
– Historical data and popularity: Stewardess was one of Bulgartabac's export projects, designed to represent the "modern traveler". The name and symbolism were designed to match the images of Pan Am and Interflug, thus strengthening the prestige of the Bulgarian tobacco industry.
