Description:
„GP Classic is an American cigarette pack with a restrained, yet classic design, distinguished by a contrasting combination of white and rich red colors. The upper part is dark red with a gold frame and emblem, conveying the image of the traditional premium segment. In the center are large letters GP, printed in metallic gold font, and underneath the inscription Classic, adding solidity to the whole. In the lower part – the information text „100's Filter Full Flavor Premium Cigarettes’, describing the elongated format of the cigarettes and the full-flavored character. On the sides of the pack, you can see the “Surgeon General's Warning„, typical of US tobacco products. The design is reminiscent of the aesthetics of the 1980-1990 Marlboro era, when a clear, bright, but not overloaded visual identity was sought.
Value assessment:
– Collectible value: medium. GP Classic was a secondary product of General Cigarette Co., aimed at the mid-price segment. Although the brand itself is not widely known, examples from the US market from this period are of interest to collectors due to their typical budget-premium style.
– Condition assessment: good – the package is unopened, the original cellophane is covered in dust in places, the surface has minor signs of storage.
– Historical data and popularity: „GP Classic was one of the lesser-known alternatives to better-known brands that existed in the U.S. market. Its design and name were focused on a simple, clean image - a "General Price / General Product" type concept that was popular in the late 1980s.
