Description:<\/strong>
This \u201eChomsongdae\u201c<\/strong> cigarette pack made Pyongyang (Korea)<\/strong>, as indicated on the packaging. This edition is named after the historic astronomical observatory Cheomseongdae (\ucca8\uc131\ub300)<\/strong>, located in Gyeongju, which is considered one of the oldest stone observatories in the world (built in the 7th century during the Silla Kingdom).<\/p>\n

The packaging features a light cream background with red horizontal stripe<\/strong>, which has the name \u201e\ucca8\uc131\ub300\u201c written in white Korean letters. Below it is the Latin transliteration \u201eChomsongdae\u201c. The upper part shows an image of the observatory on a blue background, surrounded by golden flame motifs, symbolizing light and knowledge - the main cultural connotation of this symbol.<\/p>\n

Visible on the back inscription "PYONGYANG, KOREA"\u201e<\/strong>, as well as Korean filter indicating a tobacco factory<\/strong>, most likely belonging to Korea Tobacco Company<\/strong> \u2013 for a major state manufacturer. This is a typical North Korean export or representation permit, often for diplomatic kits.<\/p>\n

Due to its origin and limited availability, this package is one of the more interesting specimens in the history of East Asian tobacco<\/strong>, especially among collectors who collect the heritage of socialist or isolated countries.<\/p>\n
