Description:
This one of the first post-communist editions, issued in an already independent Lithuania, even before the privatization of the tobacco industry.
The design is modernized, but maintains the traditional "Klaipėda" identity: light blue–dark blue color gradation, passing through the middle horizontal wavy lines, symbolizing the sea.
In the center – Klaipėda city coat of arms, stylized in a white shield with a black border, with embossed letters at the top „"RF"“ (Respublikos Fabrikas – the marking of the Klaipėda tobacco factory, used during the transitional period).
The inscription "KLAIPĖDA" in large white letters with a black outline is typical of the early 1980s design.
On the side is an inscription: „"Republic of Lithuania. Klaipėda State Tobacco Factory"“, confirming that the packet was produced before the Philip Morris takeover.
The package is original, soft type, with a top paper sticker instead of excise duty - this is one of the last packages without EU-type tax marking.
Value assessment:
– Collectible value: Very high – early editions of independent Lithuania are extremely rare, because production volumes were low and most of the packaging was destroyed during the market restructuring.
– Condition assessment: Excellent - the package is not crushed, remains authentic, with paper factory seal, clean surface, minimal signs of storage.
– Historical importance: This symbol of transition, marking the transition of the Lithuanian tobacco industry from state control to private capital. This edition combines the Soviet "Klaipėda" series with future "Philip Morris Lietuva" products.
